AI payment reminders that get invoices paid without awkward calls
Clientager sends friendly, well-timed reminders with a secure payment link from your provider, answers billing questions in the same conversation, and passes disputes to your team.
Ready for your review in 24–48 hours
Clientager: Hi, this is the AI assistant for BrightPath Tutoring. A friendly reminder that October's invoice for the math sessions you booked for Ethan, $320, is due Monday. You can pay securely here: [payment link]. Reply STOP to opt out of text reminders.
Customer: I thought we had 7 sessions not 8 this month?
Clientager: Good question. Our records show 8 sessions: 4 Tuesdays and 4 Thursdays, including the make-up session on October 17 for the one missed on the 10th. Would you like me to ask the office to double-check?
Customer: Oh right, the make-up session. That's fine then.
Clientager: Thanks for checking. The link above is ready whenever suits you. Please don't send card details by text; the link takes you to our payment provider's secure page.
Customer: Paid just now.
Clientager: Thank you. Our payment provider has confirmed it, so October is all settled. See you Tuesday!

Quick answer
How do AI payment reminders work?
AI payment reminders are messages an AI agent sends before and after a payment is due, each with a secure link from your payment provider. Clientager sends reminders by SMS, WhatsApp or email on the schedule you set, answers questions like "what is this charge?", and records the result. It never asks for card details, and a payment counts only when your provider confirms it.

What gets missed today
Chasing payments feels awkward
Owners and staff put off reminder calls because they feel uncomfortable, especially with long-standing customers. Invoices drift further past due.
Reminders are inconsistent
Some customers get three reminders, others none. Without a schedule, it depends on who has time that week.
Customers have questions before paying
"What is this line item?" or "Can I pay half now?" A reminder that cannot answer questions often just gets ignored.
Paying is harder than it should be
Bank details buried in a PDF, or a request to call with a card, add friction. Customers who mean to pay simply put it off.

How it works
- 01
Set the schedule
You choose when reminders go out, for example three days before, on the due date and seven days after, plus the tone for each.
- 02
Check consent and status
Before sending, the agent checks the customer's contact permissions, any opt-out, and whether the invoice is already paid.
- 03
Send a clear reminder
The message states the amount, what it is for and the due date, with a secure payment link from your provider.
- 04
Answer questions
If the customer replies, the agent explains the invoice from your records, shares accepted payment methods and passes disputes or payment-plan requests to your team.
- 05
Confirm and close
When the provider confirms payment, reminders stop and the record is updated. Unresolved cases are flagged for a person.
Reminders that sound like your business, not a collections agency
Most late payments are not refusals. People forget, misplace the invoice or have a question they have not got round to asking. Clientager's payment reminders are friendly and clear: what is due, what it is for, when it is due and a secure link to pay. You choose the wording for each stage, from a gentle heads-up before the due date to a firmer note when an invoice is well overdue.
Because the agent can hold a conversation, a reminder becomes an opportunity to clear up confusion. It explains line items from your records, resends invoices and tells customers which payment methods you accept. Requests for more time, installment plans or anything you would rather decide personally are passed to your team with the details, so nobody is promised terms you have not agreed.
Secure links, provider confirmation and no card details
Clientager never asks for card numbers, security codes, one-time passwords or bank passwords, by text, chat, email or phone. Every reminder includes a secure payment link generated by your payment provider, such as Stripe, Square or PayPal, where available, and the customer pays on the provider's own page. If a customer starts typing card details, the agent asks them not to and points them back to the link.
A customer saying "I've paid" is not enough to close an invoice. The agent marks a payment complete only when your provider confirms it. If there is no confirmation yet, it thanks the customer and explains that payments can take a short time to show. Reminders stop automatically once payment is confirmed, so nobody receives a reminder for something they have already paid.
Consent, opt-outs and staying on the right side of the rules
Payment reminders are usually transactional messages, but contact rules still apply. In the US, the TCPA and carrier rules govern automated texts and calls. In Europe, GDPR governs how customer data is used. Clientager sends reminders only to customers who can be contacted under your records, every message includes a simple opt-out, and opt-outs are recorded and honored immediately. Quiet hours prevent early-morning or late-night messages.
This is a reminder service for your own customers, not debt collection. If an account moves into formal collections, specific debt collection laws may apply, and your team or advisor should handle it. Our team configures your schedule and wording, usually ready for your review within 24–48 hours. Plans start at $39 per month; see our pricing page, as prices may vary by region.
Frequently asked questions
Will payment reminders upset my long-term customers?
Not if the tone is right, and you control it. Many businesses use a warm, almost casual first reminder and save firmer wording for later stages. Customers often appreciate a clear reminder with an easy payment link more than an awkward phone call.
Can the agent take card payments over the phone?
No. It never collects card numbers, security codes, one-time passwords or bank passwords. It sends a secure payment link from your provider instead, and the payment is only recorded once the provider confirms it. Customers pay on the provider's own page.
What if a customer says they've already paid?
The agent checks your records and provider confirmation. If the payment shows as confirmed, it apologizes and stops reminders. If not, it explains that confirmation is pending and, where needed, passes the case to your team to check.
Can it offer payment plans or extensions?
Only if you set clear rules, for example allowing a seven-day extension once. Otherwise, requests for more time or installments are passed to your team with the customer's details, so a person decides what to offer.
Do I need consent to send payment reminder texts?
Generally you need a lawful basis to text customers, and rules differ by country, such as TCPA in the US and GDPR in Europe. Reminders go only to contacts permitted by your records, every message includes an opt-out, and you should confirm your obligations with your advisor.
Can it remind tenants about rent?
Yes. Property managers and landlords can send rent reminders with a secure payment link before and after the due date, answer common questions, and pass hardship requests or disputes to the office. Late fees are mentioned only using your approved wording.
